Artist Statement
History and Influences:
Throughout my artistic journey, I have discovered many artists who inspired me to create my artwork. Music and literature are my main inspirations. I was able to figure out many different ideas and techniques through these artistic inspirations; I could express my creativity more dynamically. Influenced by the group ‘SEVENTEEN,’ and ‘Stray Kids’, their music motivates me to create art through their music covers and themes.
Description of Who I am as an Artist:
I as a person am not the most artistic human overall. Regarding this, I put in effort to show and express myself through the artwork. Through my art, I aim to create pieces that are helpful to our day-to-day lifestyle. I aspire for the viewers of my artwork to truly see how my artwork can help them.
Making Connections:
Art is not merely a component of my life; it is something that in my life I cannot go without. Imagining life without art feels empty as if you went on to life in a colorless world. The arts play a pivotal role in my life, offering a unique lens through which to approach challenges and decisions. Art for me provides a sanctuary for rejuvenation and a source of profound fulfillment in the journey of life and self-discovery.

Images of Artwork and Rational
Artistic thinking and behaviors:
These images truly demonstrate how I have been able to explore new techniques, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. In my coil pot, I was able to experiment with stamping to create a leaf. In my animal mask, I was finding it difficult to make the bunny ears. I had struggled to make the bunny ears, yet I was able to make them after analyzing many pictures of other similar masks and perfect mine. With my coil pot, I found it difficult to glaze as the shape of it is very wide. I wasn’t able to dip it in myself, so I had to get help from other students to glaze my project.
Responding:
Throughout this semester, I have showcased success in exploring and using creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. In my projects, I've let my imagination flow, creating unique ideas that reflect my creative thinking. When faced with challenges, I've approached them with critical thinking, analyzing different perspectives, and finding effective solutions. Whether in art class or other subjects, I've demonstrated the ability to face my problems by thinking outside the box and adapting my strategies. I've not only accomplished my tasks but also grown as a learner, finding joy in the process of discovering new ideas and solving interesting problems.
Connecting:
This semester, I've woven my identity and culture into my work by incorporating elements that reflect who I am and where I come from. Connecting my identity and style to my goals for self-directed work has been important; I set personal objectives that align with my unique interests and talents. Through my art, I express myself in a way that feels true to who I am, making my work more authentic and meaningful. I not only deepen my understanding but also make learning more enjoyable and personal. Overall, connecting my identity and culture to my work has made this semester a more enriching and fulfilling learning experience.
Producing and Presenting:
This semester, I've shown success in taking charge of my art-making process by being actively involved in every step. I began by setting clear goals for myself, and deciding what I wanted to achieve in each project. As I worked on my art, I regularly reflected on my progress, making adjustments to improve. When choosing the pieces for my portfolio and the end-of-semester art show, I considered criteria such as originality, personal connection, and the level of skill demonstrated. By taking ownership and using specific criteria, I aimed to create a portfolio that truly represents my growth and creativity in art this semester.
